Every year, our university opens its doors with a
variety of short courses for students and alumni from all artistic disciplines
around the globe.
In this year’s Berlin
Summer University of the Arts we are offering a wider range of interdisciplinary and design workshops
than ever before hoping to enrich the curriculums and toolsets of aspiring
young artists, designers and creative minds. Current artistic techniques and
discourses are presented by internationally respected lecturers in new
experimental formats but also classical ways.
As a special feature we’ve opened three of the regular
workshops with our students also for international participants: For example,
from June 30th until July 3rd Boris Hauff will examine
with everyone who is looking for alternative tools to generate content,
material, form and structure in his/her work how musical composition,
improvisation and production techniques can be applied as generative compositions tools in any creative work.
Furthermore, designers are invited to discuss the
subject of “Streit” as a creative method and to test the productive graphic potential of this rather destructive
seeming phenomenon together with Thomas Lehner and David Gobber from August 7th
until 11th.
Finally, the unique format of the workshop Cut//Act: Video (and) Activism from October 5th until 10th will bring the
challenge (and the opportunity) to the participants to inquire media studies
not only in a theoretical, reflexive and critical way, but also will call
attendees into action to develop their own skills and aesthetics regarding
communication for activist movement.
